A Random Thought
What has become of chivalry? What has become of loyalty? What has become of courtesy? It would seem that these intertwined words have become somewhat of an eyesore and source of scorn. While all three can be applied to every aspect of our lives, the first gives its edict to that of women. Where has the time gone in that men are not seen as gallant when they aspire to treat a woman with respect and courtesy? Have we become so disconnected and independent that we only think of ourselves? It would seem so. While it is recognized that men have done and continue to do many things to dilute and dissuade the proper and loving care of the edicts of protection at all cost, love that is unyielding, commitment that is unbreakable, and intimacy found in that of a precious jewel of a God fearing woman; there is no reason to completely divorce and annul this type of relationship from existence.
This call goes out to every man. It is a call to place your expectation higher than the circumstance. It is one that beckons us to be compassionate in our marriages…A call that says “listen first, speak a little, and love a lot”. Our existence depends on the fact that men and women desire to be fulfilled in each other through the holy covenant of Christian marriage. Perhaps this is the missing link…Christ in us the hope of glory. Our marriages have become Christ-less and self-centered. The man uses his greatest ally and she despises his visage. When properly aligned and Christ placed in His proper position in the lives of both spouses, the result will be a lasting and passionate relationship that will reproduce itself in the lives of its offspring.
Men; what has become of chivalry? What has become of loyalty? What has become of courtesy? Nothing, it has simply become hidden by the blackness of darkness. Pull back the veil and allow Christ to become preeminent once again in your life. Lay aside the perversion of sin and clothe yourself in the perfection of Christ. Who will dare to take this challenge? Who will dare not to?
